Our Story

Originally from Ixopo/Creighton I qualified as a Diesel artisan in 2000.  I moved to Howick in 2016 for better schooling for my children. Until the disruptions and lockdown of Covid in 2020 when I was retrenched, I served as Quarry manager in the Quarrying industry. I endured unemployment for three months as no one was employing at the time due to the uncertainty that Covid presented and how the lock downs restricted movement.

Through prayer & faith I decided to start my own venture, Diesel Mechanic Services (DMS), on 17 August 2020. Many thanks to Mike and Joe for letting me start my new venture in a shed on their farm along the Petrus Stroom Road. This was my base as I was then mainly doing field service. It was still during lockdown, so it was tough, but I was determined as I had a family to support. Thanks to social media, DMS got some good traction and I started to get busy. Word of mouth was also very important as I was unknown in the area as a service provider.

Nine months later I was presented with an opportunity to buy a business when I just wanted to buy a van! Through many sleepless nights and many negotiations, I bought Hatch VW from Preben Kristensen.

So TORQUE ZN serves as a service centre where we specialise in Audi & Volkswagen. We have all the diagnostic equipment & specialised tools to get the job done, we are able to service and maintain most brands of vehicles and carry out fleet maintenance as well.

Services

We carry out the following services and repairs:

Minor service – Consists of an oil change and full vehicle check, front to back.

Major Service – Consists of renewing all filters, plugs, engine oil and full vehicle check as well.

We can renew and check suspension, shocks, shock mounts, tie rod ends, link arm etc.

We carry out engine overhauls,  stripping a vehicle and renewing parts.

We don’t do engineering of cylinder heads and blocks, but we are able to assist as this gets outsourced.

We also carry out a full diagnostic report –a full report of the findings will be printed and presented for further discussions.

We can also assist on the electrical side, as in testing of wiring and fault finding.

As part of our service we also offer a free car wash with every service and repair done at the workshop

We offer a free lift home and collection in the areas around Howick and Hilton within a 10km radius.
